Because of Brennan
Our "Why?"
Turning Grief into Action
“Just imagine if we could walk together in a world where there’s no suicide”
I am a suicide loss survivor. I lost my son Brennan, December 20, 2019. One of my many sleepless nights, trolling social media, I stumbled upon American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Their organization seemed to pull me in, so to speak. I quickly joined the first Out of the Darkness walk. Of course, this was all in the midst of Covid, which resulted in the cancellation of the community walk. AFSP gave us permission to do our own walk as the mandates were beginning to lift. The first Because of Brennan walk was a huge success. At that point, I felt like I shouldn’t stop there.
When I began this journey, I’m not sure what it was that I originally set out to do but it quickly became a huge part of my therapy.
Because of Brennan was founded, along with the help of my family and friends in the hopes that no other family should have to endure such a great loss.
All my love and gratitude,
